PHARMACY BENEFIT MANAGEMENT

Intellicor, Inc. brings extensive experience in pharmacy benefit management (PBM), formulary management, pharmaceutical utilization and treatment compliance, and pharmacy drug purchasing with special interest related to drug utilization and management of prescription benefits for Medicare eligible populations.

Intellicor consultants, established a PBM (Complete Pharmacy Network) in 1986, and subsequently developed, programmed and implemented POS on-line claims processing and concurrent drug utilization review (DUR) programs.  Complete Pharmacy Network was sold to Value Health, Inc. in 1993.  During the next several years, Intellicor’s Consultants consulted in the development of a start-up PBM for Columbia/HCA and in the area of managed care formulary for pharmaceutical manufacturers.  In returning to PBM activity with Consolidated Prescription Services, they developed a state-of-the-art approach to PBM in 1996 using PC based systems for processing and DUR, systems that would permit complete client access to data, on-line, real-time via the Internet. CPS was sold in 2001 to PNNC, a division of HealthExtras which owns another PBM, CatalystRx.

Concurrent with CPS, Intellicor also developed and operated a formulary management company that focused on two types of reimbursement programs, formulary management for PBM’s and MCO’s, and formulary development and administration for independent pharmacies.

Intellicor has extensive information on retirees and experience managing retiree benefits.  We have gathered (since October, 1997) prescription claims information on over 800,000 senior citizens, that is over 2% of the over 65 years of age population in the United States.  In addition, major contracts with the steel industry, the United Rubber Workers (now part of the USW), the United Mine Workers of America and a Medicare HMO have provided us with knowledge in handling over 200,000 retirees’ pharmacy benefits.
